Artists Statement

My photographic images are highly inspired by science fiction, romantic novels, and wonderful music. I am inclined to tell a story with my images, perhaps because I am so drawn to them myself. I create a story in my mind, and then I chop it up into scenes. This thrills me, because as I am going through this process I feel attachment, and feel as though I have this responsibility to bring to life this creation that does not really exist yet. Like a loving parent, or a mad scientist, I do and apply what ever medium is necessary to build an image, to represent this story I imagined. I enjoy working with series, because they are like scenes. One image follows and completes the next image... If a series is not called for, then I try to tell the story, in one scene, which is a challenge ...

I start the process by selecting models, sets, props, lighting, costume, make-up, etc. Photograph from nearly a hundred, all of which are differently exposed. Once I pick the photograph in which to work with I transform the photograph by painting onto it, adding and subtracting.
